Chernobyl - 31 years later
26th of april 1986 the biggest nuclear disaster took place. After an experimental shutdown, Reactor #4. of The Chernobyl nuclear power station went into a meltdown. A big explosion blow of the cover of the nuclear reactor, followed by a big fire. The highly contaminated smoke spread extremely radiated dust into the air. An area of 30 square km was evacuated after several days. These people couldn’t return ever again.
31 years later I had the chance to visit Chernobyl, the military area called Duga and the town of Pripyat. Wandering around in this 10 square km exclusion zone is one of the most bizarre things I have ever done.
